TICKETS

Dancers will receive 2 complimentary tickets to the recital (included in their recital fee). These tickets will be available for pick up at the studio starting April 27th. Additional tickets will also be available for $8.00 at the front desk starting April 27th. These will be sold all the way through the Friday before recital, May 29th. Tickets will be available for purchase at the event for $10.00.

DRESS REHEARSAL

Dress rehearsal for our recital will be at the Smithson Valley High School Performing Arts Center.

Dress rehearsal date & times:
Show A - May 26th at 5:45pm
Show B - May 27th at 5:45pm
Show C - May 28th at 5:45pm
Show D - May 29th at 5:45pm

Dress rehearsals will begin promptly at their scheduled times, so dancers and parents should arrive 30 minutes early. We will practice the finale first & then we will run all dances on stage, in the show order. This means, once your dancer is finished with their dance(s) they are welcome to leave dress rehearsal. Dancers will need to be in full costume for dress rehearsal, but recital hair and makeup is not required. Parents will be in charge of changing their own dancers for dress rehearsal. There will be no backstage helpers for dress rehearsal.

RECITAL

Dancers should arrive at the Smithson Valley High School P.A.C. 45 minutes before their showtime, dressed in their first costume. You will drop your dancer off at their designated dressing room. We will have backstage helpers with each class and will get your dancers ready for all of their dances so parents can sit and enjoy the entire recital, with the exception of those who sign up as backstage helpers.

Every dancer should bring all of their costumes, shoes, tights, hairpieces, and accessories in a tub, basket, or bag that is clearly labeled with their name. Feel free to get creative and make their tub, basket, or bag as cute and fun as you’d like! Please make sure every piece of their costume—including tights and shoes—is clearly labeled with their name. This is very important!

You may send your dancer with snacks and activities to keep them occupied while they are waiting in the dressing room. We ask that you do not send anything of significant value, as Standout Dance Center is not responsible for items that are lost or stolen. We will have coloring pages and Goldfish or animal crackers for the dancers in the dressing rooms. Dancers will need to be picked up on stage immediately following the finale of their recital. We will not release dancers without a parent picking them up from the stage.

For classes that are required to wear tights, you will need to purchase the Weissman brand tights that we sell at the studio. If we are out of your dancer’s size just let us know and we will get them ordered for you. We recommend purchasing an additional pair to have as a backup, in case of any spills, rips, or snags.

We recommend purchasing an additional pair to have as a backup, in case of any spills, rips, or snags.
Click here for required shoes & tights, organized by class.

If your dancer’s costume comes with a hairpiece (most do), please attach it on THEIR right side of their head. Make sure they are bobby-pinned/clipped in good so no hairpieces fall out on stage during their performance.

Hair

Your dancer’s exact hairstyle is your choice but it should be a performance ready style. All dancers should have the front of their hair slicked back with gel and/or hairspray and should be free of flyaways. You can put their hair into a bun, ponytail, braids, a curly updo, etc.
Half up half down is acceptable for our younger dancers that have very fine or short hair.

Makeup
All dancers should wear makeup on stage. The stage lighting washes their features out, and the makeup helps the audience see their big smiling faces!
Stage makeup includes, but is not limited to:
· Lipstick (Red, deep mauve, dark pink, or burgundy…something to add some color)
· Eye shadow
· Blush
· Eyeliner
· Mascara
For our baby dancers (2-4 year olds), we ask that you at least apply lipstick, eye shadow, and blush.

Dancers in classes that do not wear tights for recital: Your dancer may choose to wear no underwear with their costume, or you may purchase nude dance briefs. Nude dance briefs will be available for purchase starting mid-April at the studio. No colored underwear is allowed. Dancers who are required to wear tights with their costumes should not wear underwear.

Merchandise for Order

All recital merchandise orders must be submitted via the online order form. No in person or paper order forms will be accepted. Order forms will be accepted through Saturday, April 18th. The online order form will no longer be active after this date.

BACKSTAGE MOMS

We need 1-3 backstage helpers for each class to help during recital. These helpers should be moms that are interested in being a part of the hustle and bustle behind the scenes of recital. Backstage Moms will be responsible for staying with their dancer's class in the dressing room during the entire show, helping them backstage, watching their performance from side-stage, and helping them get back to the dressing room. You will also help dancers change costumes when necessary. There will be multiple pop up changing tents set up in the dressing room. All backstage helpers will receive 2 additional complimentary tickets, so additional friends or family can support their dancer in the audience. This is our way of saying "Thank you for your help!"
Backstage Moms are REQUIRED to arrive at their dancer's dress rehearsal 30 minutes early for a short meeting.

BOB & SUE RECITAL PERFORMANCE

We will do the "Bob & Sue" dance at each recital. Participating dancers will choose one show to perform for Bob & Sue. If your dancer is on a competition team and in multiple shows, you will pick just one of their shows to perform. This is an optional, special performance for our dancers & their Dads (or another adult family member). Male dancer's will dance with their Mom! This is optional, and a fun way for dancers to make a new performance memory with a special family member.

There is a $10 fee to take part in the Bob & Sue performance.

There will be 1 in-person practice at the studio, as well as an instructional video for performers to use to practice at home.

Performers should come to the in-studio practice knowing the basic choreography, having practiced with the video. The Bob & Sue performers will also run the dance once on stage during each dress rehearsal to make sure spacing is correct.

*If you have more than 1 dancer in a show, you are welcome to dance with both at the same time. There may just be a few moves you will be doing a tad differently. You are also welcome to invite a Grandparent or Uncle to dance with one of the sibling dancers.

MANDATORY In-Studio Practices: May 17 & 18th

You will only be required to attend one of the days, depending on your dancer's show and how many dancers sign up to participate. You will receive your mandatory in-studio day & time via email a few weeks prior to practice!

The 2026 "Bob & Sue" performance will be hip hop themed.

Costume:
performers can wear any of the following colors for the Bob & Sue performance: Black, red, white, silver. Jeans are also allowed for the Dads. Dancers should not wear jeans. Some costume ideas for dancers are: sweatpants, joggers, athletic skirt, wind shorts, tank top, cute dress. Anything that feels “hip hoppy” works perfectly!

**Sign-ups will be accepted through April 30th

RECITAL PORTRAITS

NEW THIS SEASON-We will be taking class group photos again this year, due to multiple requests— dancers are required to participate!
